Empowering Kids
Empowering Dreams
In these group classes, our community of dreamers will discuss executive function concepts. Depending on the class will discuss getting organized, large/small goals, regulating emotions, formulating ideas/passions, and how to get there. This is also a place where we can talk about roadblocks that can occur from either within or from outside that stop us from achieving our goals and dreams.
Each week, we put our thinking caps on and critically think about the importance of having these skills and how they can positively benefit ourselves and our community. Classes are limited to 8 learners (as noted, lecture-style limited to 12) to give each student an opportunity to engage. As with all the D.R.E.A.M. (Do Right Each Audacious Minute) classes, critical thinking is a key element.
I believe in creating a classroom environment that is flexible and driven by student suggestions and engagement. While I always have a lesson plan for each class, I can and do adjust my plans to best meet the needs of the students each week, in each section. I encourage a very interactive classroom where students are encouraged to engage, but it is not required.

For children facing subclinical issues such as excessive video gaming, social media usage, navigating first-time dating, peer group conflicts, school bullying, self-esteem issues, lack of motivation, executive function skills, and family conflicts, I offer individual coaching through 3E Center. This involves providing emotional support and practical strategies to help children navigate these challenges. The goal is to foster resilience, confidence, and a positive approach to overcoming life's obstacles. If you are interested in finding out more about 1:1 coaching for your child please contact me directly at drshirls@3ecenter.org.
Please note the schedule outlined for each group of classes as some classes are 8 weeks long, some 6 weeks and some only meet once. All classes meet for 45 minutes per session, providing an opportunity for learners to engage in discussions, activities, and exercises related to new skills learned.
To protect the privacy and confidentiality of all students, group sessions are not recorded or distributed under any circumstances. This ensures a safe and respectful space where students can fully participate without concern that their image, voice, or personal contributions will be shared beyond the classroom. This policy also aligns with best practices and complies with student privacy laws, including FERPA and applicable state regulations. If a student is unable to attend a session, families are welcome to request a summary of key concepts covered. Thank you for your understanding and support in creating a safe learning environment for all participants.
Refunds are not provided after the classes have begun. Additionally, there are no refunds for missed classes.
You can contact Dr. Shirls @ dr.shirlsinfo@gmail.com to address any inquiries you might have.
Is participation mandatory?
Participation is encouraged but not mandatory. The class aims to foster an interactive environment where students feel comfortable engaging in discussions, but those who prefer to listen are also welcome.
